ALEXANDER WANG FALL 2018 READY-TO-WEAR

Alexander Wang Fall RTW was probably my favorite collection of 2018. I had the honor of going to the new flagship store in London this past December, and seeing his pieces in person just confirmed my love for his designs. I’ve been an Alexander Wang fan since I really got into fashion—definitely YouTube some of his old runway shows to really get an appreciation. This particular collection was one of my favorites because it combined the athleisure look with some totally kickass sophisticated pieces. I felt like this collection really showcased the whole intimidation vibe his clothes usually give off, but really took it to a level I haven’t seen before.

“I want to empower women. I want people to be afraid of the women I dress.” – Alexander Wang

OFF-WHITE SPRING 2019 READY-TO-WEAR

Virgil has done again! Who’s surprised? This collection was one of my favorites because of the combination of modernity with the (almost tacky) neon touches. I feel like the neon trend last season really originated from this specific collection, and I’ve seen a lot of similar looks done by PRIX WORKSHOP, Danielle Guizio (both of which I also LOVE), and other designers since then. Fun fact, my childhood bedroom was neon pink and green, so 7-year-old Taylor would be super hyped about this collection.

KITH WOMEN X UGG WINTER 2018

Okay, I’m a college sorority girl, which means I have to be excited about UGG collaborations. This Kith one was my favorite last year, but sadly I couldn’t get my hands on a pair. I adored their laid-back, woodsy lookbook—I felt like it was something new for Kith, considering it’s such a renowned streetwear brand. This photoshoot was stunning, and the concept of this footwear collab was pretty iconic for me.

ADAM SELMAN: FEATHERY & FLIRTY

Adam Selman has always been another one of my favorite designers, and last year I felt like his signature clear jeans really took off, in addition to the infamous feather tube top. I got to see a pair of his astro sheer jeans, along with the matching trench coat, on Lorde this past April on her Melodrama tour—in which she absolutely killed. I felt like that fit captured her personality so well, I really began to obsess over Adam Selman as a designer. His pieces are all so unique, and I never see a lot of other designers even attempt to knock off his clothes. Here is my favorite combo of his: feathers and sheer pants.

DANIELLE GUIZIO 2018

Danielle Guizio!!! I have been following her ever since she only had a few graphic hoodies out. I loved seeing how far she came as a designer in 2018. Out of every designer, brand, etc. I feel like her aesthetic encompasses my personal style the most. I adore her badass, yet somehow girly vibe and am absolutely obsessed with her as a person. I could definitely see if she drew inspiration from Alexander Wang. In addition to a killer year in fashion, she owned her Forbes feature. Maaajorrrr heart eyes for her.

HERON PRESTON WOMEN FW18

I’ve been a big fan of the basic Heron Preston graphics lately. I think the simplistic styles included in FW18 makes it super wearable, and even the less simplistic pieces are to die for. One of my favorite looks was the sheer mock neck under the oversized blazer on Bella Hadid.

STATEMENT COATS

Of course statement coats were an obsession of mine, especially towards the end of 2018. Co-founder Alana Pallister always kills with I.AM.GIA outerwear, this cropped red puffer being one of my personal favorites. I’ve also had an obsession with trenches recently, this flared one by Norma Kamali being one of the most beautiful I’ve seen all season. The gold color is super unique and is styled perfectly with the model’s all black outfit. When I tell you I’ve had dreams about this trench for the past few months, I’m REALLY not kidding. Vinyl coats have also been huge for me. My shiny black one from Target has been a hit, I love the edgy twist on a super casual style of jacket.

A TOUCH OF FENDI

2018 was really Fendi’s year. So, when I found my vintage Fendi saddle bag at Avalon Exchange over the summer, I about had a heart attack. I’ve been loving the “touches of Fendi” that stylists have been adding to their outfits. Fendi tights, small bags, graphic tees, etc. have definitely been all the rave. The classic F print is such a statement. I really F with Fendi (haha).

ADIDAS COLLABS

Now to talk about my two favorite Adidas collabs of 2018! Danielle Cathari x Adidas was one I was awaiting ever since Dua Lipa wore the tan track pants at one of her shows. Sadly couldn’t get my hands on this collab either, but I LOVE to look at the promo shoots for it. I didn’t include pictures, but the Stella McCartney x Adidas collab was a lot more practical. The pieces are great (& hot) for working out in, and pretty affordable for Stella McCartney. My girl Stella been busy lately, her Stan Smith collab was also one of my favorite shoe releases. Checks over stripes? Not for me last year.

CHUNKY SNEAKERS

“Chunky” sneakers. You either love them or hate them. I’M personally a fan, especially of the Balenciagas that just about every fashion blogger on Instagram bought last year. I feel like they stray away from the typical small sneakers such as the super popular Saint Laurent or Gucci white ones that were all the rave. If you’re like me and don’t really have the budget for a pair of Balenciaga’s, Naked Wolfe is one of my absolute favorite alternatives. Their sneakers definitely give off the same vibe and they even have some sick boot-esque styles that are even cooler than the Balenciagas, in my opinion.

GOLF: AUTUMN/WINTER 2018

Last, I had to end with the GOLF Autumn/Winter 2018 collection. Tyler absolutely blew my mind with this (as he does with literally every project he works on). I aspire to have a mind as creative as his one day. Here’s the link to the nine-minute lookbook, which I highly recommend you watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph2yCQxDk7w

Anyways, those were pretty much all of my personal fashion highlights of 2018. Can’t wait to see what this year has in store, literally.

xx, tA
